The town of Bannow has since disappeared but the ruins of a Norman church still remain there to this day. Dedicated to St Mary, the beautiful Norman church architecture, especially the glorious archways are replicated in this special piece. Pointing skywards towards the suns rays, the fluid linear cutting replicates the majestic pointed arches favoured by the Normans, appearing over doors and windows in many of their religous buildings.
